Asian Games is an event where many sports are competed there. The 18th Asian Games hosted in Indonesia. This is the second time Indonesia hosted an Asian Games event after the 4th in 1962. For the first time in history, the Asian Games hosted in two cities at once, Palembang and Jakarta.
What is the effect of Asian Games, especially for Indonesia?
From the economic side, this event succeed to make 15 trillion IDRA for Indonesia. Danny Buldansyah, Public Relations and Media Director of INESGOC, said that INASGOC has predicted that the profit of Asian Games is 45 trillion IDR. The govenment has spent 30 trillion IDR for this event. It is for public development, stadium and hall upgrading, and transportation.
From the programming side, Asian Games helped to increase national branding from Indonesia. Eric Thohir, Organizing Committee of INESGOC said that the benefit of this event spread in every sector, includes national branding.
From the culture side, this event helped to promote local animals of Indonesia, such as Orang utan, Badak, and Cendrawasih. The event shows the maskot named Binbin, Atung, and Kaka which is a character of Indonesian local animals.
For the conclusion, besides succeed to create achievement and honor in sports, Asian Games succeed to create achievement in economic, programming, culture, and many more sectors. This event also make and break some records, for example "Most Gold medal for Indonesia in history of Asian Games"
